About OCSG, its people, and its organisation

The Oxford Centre for Spiritual Growth (which was founded in 2009), is based at the Church of St Michael at the North Gate, and exists to encourage people to explore the deeper meaning of life and the spiritual aspect of what it is to be human.

We aim to offer a variety of approaches and events, involving reflective practice and increasing awareness of self, others and reality.

Revd Georgie Simpson, the Founder and Director of the Oxford Centre for Spiritual Growth, died from cancer on 30th October 2020.  Her husband Ben and other members of her Support Team will be exploring ways, with others, in which her life and work can best be celebrated, and how the work of the Centre may be carried on.

The Centre is based at the Church of St Michael at the North Gate in Cornmarket St, Oxford. Georgie was previously an Asssociate Priest at the two Anglican churches of St Margaret and St Giles in Oxford, and an experienced Spiritual Director, having trained initially with the Oxford Diocesan SpiDir course and more recently the 3-year Ignatian Spirituality Course at the London Centre for Spirituality. Georgie led numerous Quiet Days and Retreats and was priviledged to accompany a wide range of people in their life of faith.

Georgie held a BTh (Oxon) in Theology and an MA (Distinction) in Pastoral Studies (Birmingham University). She was married to Ben. They have two married daughters and three grandchildren.
